Once the blond finally calm down and caught his breath and regain his composure before even answering this kid about what he was doing in the first place. “Ah nothing much, just needed to take care of some monsters that were bothering some guy.”
He rubbed the back of his neck as he thought about the guild request he was given. “Unsure why this guy wanted to get to rid of them here in this place of all places. I mean there’s a lot of monsters running around and the like.”
"Ah. So you got paid to hunt some monsters? That make sense."
Christopher got paid with hard labor these days. Helping to build houses, bridges, and the sort seemed to be what got him the most income. Sadly the only monsters in his world were human. There was no monsters like ones in fairy tales to fight. It was just human against human and/or animals. He was almost envious of the worlds where monsters existed.
"Ah. I’m not sure why either. For every one you take down, another seems to take it’s place. Of course they’re not the same but still… There’s no end to them."
It’d be smarter to try and make peace but even then… Living creatures were hard to please in his mind. He definitely wasn’t easy to please nor was anyone he had ever known. So that was just an assumption he drew from past experience.
"Sure, sure whatever you say, kid!"
This kid sure knows how to tickle his sides. Gero was still laughing at this brunet’s claims. Him? Over 700 year old? Get out, no one can’t be that old, especially if they were this young. The man really wasn’t taking this all too seriously.
At least he was getting a good laugh out of this.
"Well alright then, Chris."
Of course the other didn’t believe him. What did he expect? How could anyone believe he was actually that old yet looked so young? It was a crazy claim to say the least and Chris didn’t blame him for not believing it. He’d probably do the same in his situation. For now he could just smile weakly as he watched the other laugh. He didn’t really join in on it… Because he knew he was speaking the truth.
"So what’cha doing around here Gero? Wherever here is of course…"
"700? Get out! Man you must be some kind of jokester!" The thought of this guy being 700 years old was rather absurd! No one can’t be that old. So the man thought this guy was just joking about it and so it made him laugh.
"Christopher? Ha ha. Nice to meet ya, I’m Gero."
"I honestly wished I was kidding. I swear my back nearly gave out once… I’ve become a brittle old man."
The male looked at the other nervously. It wasn’t a surprise they found such a thing to be absurd. Who could be that old and have such a young face? He was near certain Gero didn’t believe in the supernatural or anything of that sort.
This wasn’t Chris’ world after all. No one could believe in something they never heard about before.
"Nice to meet you Gero. You can call me Chris if that makes things easier on you."
"Oh come on, you can’t be that old. I mean… I’m probably like older than you." Or so that’s what he thinks, when this kid was a lot older than him.
"Would you like to bet money on that?"
The currently grey haired male responded before a smirk came onto his face. He chuckled to himself before waving it off. He wasn’t serious about bidding things or luck based games. He hated those kinds.
"Over 700… You? Oh! Wait a sec!"
"Shit! I haven’t even introduced myself. Name’s Christopher."
"Your real age…? Hm, is such a normal thing for…" she stared just a little more closely. "Oh. My apologies. I almost called you a human. Hmm, it can be rather annoying being in this form, isn’t it?" she sighed. "But I suppose it could be worse…"
"I gotta say it’s impressive. Never before have I’ve seen someone who immediately guessed my race. I gotta give you props for that."
The male ran his fingers through his hair for a moment before taking a deep breath. It was strange someone figured out his race so quickly despite his human appearance.
"Being in human form? Naw. I rather like it compared to being a cat or something. I just didn’t expect my age to start showing my hair so quickly. I’m basically supposed to be a 19 year old human… But now I feel older having grey hair… It could be worse. You’re right about that."
Finger twirled a bit before pointing at her.
"Christopher. You are?"
"Man you sound like a old man like that, y’know." Gero rubbed the back of his head, finding it rather odd of him to say things like that.
"Well gee, sonny. It warms this old man’s heart that you gave him the time of day."
Whether he was being sarcastic, joking, or just being a jerk was unknown. Though a hand rose to scratched the back of his neck before a sigh escaped him.
"If you knew my actual age… You probably wouldn’t say that because I’m a lot older than I look let me tell you man… My hair just turned this color to mock me about it."
"When I grew up… I thought I’d look more mature. Look at me. I’m 19 now and my hair went grey… Ahaha…"
"I guess my real age is finally showing… Maybe."
